shiningchild: Intro from an outsider
Hello...I am not actually living in a community, but am fascinated by them and recently visited Twin Oaks in Virginia. I am also corresponding with a group of people who are interested in starting one. I hope no one minds if I join and occasionally post to this group? :)

how was your TO stay? i did a visitor period there last year and had a terrific time. there's a lot to love about the place. i kept a pretty detailed accounting of my stay there, which you are welcome to read
if you'd like.
I would love to hear about what most caught your attention there.

to reply to you both at the same time...i was at twin oaks most of the summer (through mid-july), did i encounter either of you?
i just got back from a week there at new year's ...incredible... and i'll be back this summer, likely as the conference intern.
if either of you want to swap twin oaks stories, let me know!

i don't believe i met you this summer, but i'm fairly certain that i spent much of this week in the room next to yours in Aurora =) i was just thinking of you this morning , actually, and looking forward to eventually getting a copy of the poem you read us the other morning while we were all packing up! (of course, i may have misread all the signs and taken you for someone you're not, but i don't think that's likely.)

I went to Twin Oaks in November, actually, and it was just for the Saturday tour so I doubt I met either of you. Would be nice to know someone though! I need to make another trip to another place soon. If for nothing else then the GORGEOUS drive.

kenllama: llama identification
:: you're THAT ken!!::
yes i am =) i think sometime i move through life assuming that people can see my llama ears, and that might not always be a valid assumption. the world is a funny place, awash in LJers who never out themselves...
i did make it back ok -- a long journey, and a pretty good one overall. ironically, slower to fly than to drive, but at least i didn't have to do most of the driving.
joy to you!
(and: adding you too)

I would LOVE if you posted anything in here, personally. :) I also started a community for people who are starting them: buildcommunity

Well I have NO idea what to post, but hopefully once conversations get going...
I just finished one hell of a busy semester. So now I have more time to reflect.
What community do you belong to, and how long have you been there?

I live in a non-income sharing co-op in Montréal. I'm moving back in with my parents on the other side of the country very soon though. :)
